All About Me and My Blog

My name is Patrisha Cabasal, I’m currently 17 years old and studies at Far Eastern University. As a grade 11 student, it was a requirement for us to make a blogsite that contains a travel experience, a movie review, and lastly, an about page. It was my first time in creating a blog since I’m not really very public about my experiences, but I guess this is a way to share to the world a little something about me. I don’t travel a lot because my family does not have the budget to do so. My summer is mostly spent inside the house doing nothing. Luckily, we went to Bicol in 2009 so I have one travel experience to tell you all.

My blog is entitled “that’s so random” simply because the content is random stories I want to post. It can go from my travel experience to a movie review of a film I enjoyed watching. “That’s so Random” came from the famous Disney series “That’s so Raven”. Currently my blog only consists of one travel experience and one movie review, since I can put random things here, I might add more content. That’s basically my blogsite, it’s not that much but I hope you’ll enjoy reading the stuff I posts here.

Kimi No Na Wa: A Movie Review

At first, I had to be honest that I didn’t like anime and anything related to it, but because my classmate influenced me into watching a movie entitled “Kimi No Na Wa” or in English translation “Your Name”. I didn’t want to watch it at first but I did eventually. I don’t know what drove me to watch it but I did.

I was pretty outdated when I watched the movie. It was released in the Philippines in 2016 and I think I watched it in 2018 so I was 2 years late. The hype of the movie was over that time, still I watched it because one of my classmates said it was a great movie. Took me awhile before I was convinced though.

Now let’s talk about the movie itself. The animation was truly beautiful. The overall graphics was breathtaking. The colorful aesthetics combined with all the overall animation made me feel like I was in the movie, whether you’re watching it from your phone or from your laptop, regardless of the screen size, the movie makes you fully immerse in the scenes. With beautiful animation, it also came with wonderful background music that perfectly matched up with the scenes. It greatly helped with the “feels” of the movie. Adding background music made my emotions strong . I really felt the movie and the emotion it was trying to make me feel. An added bonus is that the background of the movies and the different scenery were based on real places in Japan.

Enough about the movie’s aesthetics, now unto the plot. Two high schoolers, Mitsuha and Taki. They are complete strangers living separate lives. Mitsuha, the daughter of the mayor in a small town, she lives with her sister and grandmother. She is uninterested with the rituals they do and have no intention of helping in her father’s campaign, instead she wants to try her luck in Tokyo and leave the boring town she lives in. Taki, a high school boy who lives in Tokyo works part time as a waiter. He also dreams about becoming an architect in the near future. One night, Mitsuha wakes up in Taki’s body and he in hers. As they try to live each other’s lives, the establish a connection and they try to communicate by leaving notes or messages as they switch bodies. They wanted a chance to meet but distance isn’t the only obstacle they were facing.

Your Name is an endearing, beautiful story about growing up, identity, accepting yourself for who you are, looking beyond yourself, connection, change, and fate. It is a film about how we connect with people in unexpected ways and see them in a different light as a result. It leaves the viewer with perspective and self-reflection. With all of the plot twists and turns that take place, the story of Taki and Mitsuha has not become lost within, it’s the heart of the story’s puzzle and has the viewer in a tight, emotional grip from start to finish.

Fam Goes to Bicol

MAYON VOLCANO

I was 9 year when my family and I went to visit Bicol, specifically Albay. If I remember correctly, we went there because our relative have passed away. I know my family was not close to her but we still decided to visit her funeral together with our other relatives. Our trip to Bicol took roughly 12 hours or more. I remember we had to wake up at 10pm to travel. We had numerous stopovers because we had to travel for 12 hours. Then finally we arrived at 12nn at the funeral. We were greeted with sad faces and we said condolence to the family. Then we left the wake, we went to the house of our relative because I is where we will spend the night.

Church ruins

I also remembered that we attended the mass at 5pm. I don’t remember the name of the church but I do remember that the view from the back of the church was the magnificent Mayon Volcano. We couldn’t help but take pictures of it. After the mass we ate dinner then we went back to the house to take a rest and sleep. Then the morning after came, we decided to go and visit the Mayon Volcano and its ruins. It was truly something spectacular. Being able to see the perfect symmetrical volcano in the Philippines. We took pictures but not that many because we were to busy admiring the beautiful scenery in front of us.

Of course as part of the Filipino culture, we can’t help and take a look at the pasalubong center and bought a variety of items and that was the end of our Bicol trip. I do hope I can visit again soon.
